Saw this on my way to the gym. I knew it was a Ford from a distance but the taillights and the rear window line were off from normal US offerings (it had Québec plates). Pulled up to the stoplight and promptly freaked out in excitement and had to get a pic. Why can’t we have nice things.....
Oh yeah, this is why....
A Nissan Micra for your time. (Nova Scotia plates)

I know, right? They are infiltrating the US with their CDM cars to tease us.. .

I don’t think the Focus Estate was ever sold here of that generation in Canada, was it? :S
As for the Micra, not bad little cars! I’m seeing more and more of them here in Nova Scotia! :)

You should see the parking lot of the main office of my company. Literally
many
dozens of mk3 Focus wagons (and mk3 Renault Megane wagons). All company cars. I’ve got a Focus wagon as a company car as well.

Well, this wasn’t exactly a success...

Don’t want to make the lack of Focus Wagon worse for you Americans, but the Focus Wagon drives even better than a hatchback due to the extra weight over the rear giving it a better balance. Still miss it a bit, my dad swapped it for a Peugeot 308 SW recently, which is less sporty but more comfortable.

That generation and the 2nd were questionable in design and cheap as shit.

I’m not disagreeing, but I can’t blame Ford for not continuing to offer a Focus wagon here.

I liked it when my dad had one. However on the other hand I find it sad to see what the bijtelling did to the diversity of dutch company cars.

The worst part is that that generation Fusion Wagon is not available in Canada either. So I’ve got no idea where the fuck it came from.

I know, again with the Japan trip, but there were so many cars there that US America doesn’t get: kei cars, saw a few Citroens and Renaults, couple Alfas, lots of small work vans and trucks. Sigh .... Tiny Datsun pickup for your time.

I’m still waiting for the Focus ST ‘Estate’ to come stateside. I’ll take one of those over an RS!

The CO2 based
bijtelling
is the devil. Like you mentioned: it killed diversity. And for what? CO2 emissions of these ‘eco-diesels’ isn’t that low in real life. My 14% “Ford Focus ECOnetic Lease Titanium” emits just as much CO2 per km (=fuel economy) in real life as a 1991 Citroën BX diesel. It consumes about 5.7L diesel per 100 km in real life.
In my ‘company’ (part of the government) it has little to do with bijtelling by the way, but that’s a rare exception. I don’t even drive my company car privately so bijtelling is utterly irrelevant to me.
I’d trade my Focus for a 308 instantly by the way. I’d give it up without replacement as well, if I get my
kilometervergoeding
back. I refer to my Focus as a
leasegebakje
, I like my 406 coupe so much more. Alas, a company car is mandatory for me.

Did Canada get any of the Mondeo/Fusion estates too?

I see a surprising number of them still floating around. The 2.0L Escort engine they had is pretty much impossible to kill.

No idea. I’m not Canadian.
